Keep cool

“Keep cool” means store in the refrigerator at a temperature between 0℃ and 4℃, ideally at about 1.7℃. The main compartment of your refrigerator should be in this temperature range. You can, if you wish, store either of these products in the freezer.

(Label example)

  • “Refrigerate required (7℃ or less)”
  • “Store at 7℃ or below”

Keep frozen

The “keep frozen” instructions are used by the companies for food safety and are usually not the ideal way to prepare the food. Often, a defrost in the refrigerator will minimize textural degradation and help the dish cook more evenly.

(Label example)

  • “Frozen product (0℃ or less)”
  • “Store at 0℃ or below”

Single use item

Single-use items or also known as disposable are designed for a single-use after which it is recycled or is disposed of as solid waste. The term is also sometimes used for products that may last several months to distinguish from similar products that last indefinitely.
